Forty days. One passage. No score.

Tekton is forty days of scripture and practice for a man who wants to be nearer to God, to himself, to his people and to his work. Each day: one passage, prayed in your own words; one practice for the body; two lines laid down at night. There is no score, no streak and no account. Most questions answer themselves inside the app. The rest are here.

Starting

Open Tekton, give it your first name, choose your day one, and begin. Day one is Matthew eleven. If a brother sent you Tekton, your forty is still your own: begin it when you are ready.

A missed day

Nothing is taken away. The sun comes up over the forty whether you are watching or not. Each day you pray leaves a ray, and a night laid down lengthens it. A missed day leaves nothing and says nothing.

The Field

Under the sun is the way you have walked so far, by the names of the days. Tap one to open that day again: its passage, and what you laid down that night.

A brother

A beam is carried by two. On More, name a brother and send him Tekton in a text from your own phone. He begins his own forty. On days seven, fourteen, twenty-one, twenty-eight and thirty-five of yours, Tekton gives you one question to ask him by call or across a table, never in the app. To part ways, More, Part ways. He is not told.

Your people

On More, name up to five people who are yours. The Family days and the blessing use the names. They stay on the phone.

If you have no words

Under the opener on every Pray the Word screen there are four doors: a Psalm, the Lord's Prayer, the passage itself, or silence. Silence counts.

Kept

Keep any passage and it waits on the Kept tab, in the order of the Bible, beside the nights you laid down. When the lists grow long, a search appears. Open a passage to send it, release it, or set it on a painting for your own screen.

After the forty

The Word keeps coming, one passage a day, a sequence of its own. The practices and the blessing stay. When you are ready, More, Begin again starts a new forty tomorrow; the field you turned is kept beneath it and your lines stay.

Export

More, Export what you wrote. Everything you laid down, your plumb line and your look backs, as plain text, sent wherever you choose.

Sound, light and the bell

A quiet sound under the minute of stillness and the quiet practices, chant, forest or rain, and Off; choose it on More or on the practice screen. The field follows the sky: before dawn and after dusk the app goes to ink, or set it by hand on More. The morning bell is off unless you set a time.

Reaching a person

Write to andrew@andrewcebulka.com. A person answers. Tekton is not a church, not a counselor, and not a substitute for a real brother in a real room. A hard season deserves a pastor or a counselor, and this app will never pretend otherwise.
